The Waiting Room, 2014, is limited to an edition of only 90 fine-art reproductions made under the guidance and approval of the artist. Each print is blind embossed with his studio embossment and hand-signed by Tim Storrier.

Printed using Japanese pigment ink onto 300gsm Museo watercolour paper, this paper and ink combination makes these limited editions archival for up to 200 years.

Every limited edition is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Editors of Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and The Canberra Times. The certificates are printed on 200 gsm archival paper using pigment ink and come displayed in a clear archival sleeve.

This select range of fine-art reproductions is printed and published exclusively by Digital Art Directory, one of our printing partners.

“One of the unique artists of the Australian landscape.” John Olsen, AO, OBE

Tim Storrier was born in Sydney in 1949, and spent his youth in northern Sydney and on the family property near Wellington in rural NSW. He studied graphic design at the National Art School and later worked for the ABC, the Canberra Arts Festival and as a freelance graphic artist.

Storrier was just 19 years old when he won the coveted Sulman Prize in 1968, the youngest artist ever to do so. During the 1970s and 1980s, he went on expeditions to Lake Eyre, Uluru and Kakadu in the Australian outback with ornithologist, conservationist and author Vincent Serventy, and artists John Olsen, Richard Tipping, Frank Hodgkinson and Colin Jack-Hinton.

Storrier won the Sulman Prize again in 1984, followed by the Wynne Prize in 2011, and the Archibald Prize for his self-portrait in 2012. Most recently, he was awarded the 2017 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize for The Lunar Savant, a painting of his friend, artist McLean Edwards.

Tim Storrier has travelled extensively through Central Australia, China, Turkey, Mexico, Africa and Antarctica, as well as having more than 40 solo and collaborative exhibitions. He was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to contemporary Australian art in 1994 and bestowed a Doctor of Arts (Hons) in 2003 by Charles Sturt University.

The former director of the Art Gallery of NSW, Edmund Capon, has described Storrier’s work as having “a unique and absolute sense of place”, and that his work “could have come from no other country, no other landscape, no other sensibility, no other single imagination”.

Storrier’s work has been exhibited in Tokyo, London, across the US and around Australia. His paintings are held in collections in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and major Australian public and regional galleries.

Storrier lives and works in the Southern Highlands of NSW, and is represented by Art Loft, Philip Bacon Galleries, Brisbane, and Australian Galleries, Sydney.
