Helmeted Honeyeater, Arita Porcelain Plate
A beautifully crafted plate in navy and white glaze featuring the helmeted honeyeater. A critically endangered yellow and black bird with a distinctive yellow ‘helmet’, the helmeted honeyeater exists in the wild only as a tiny relic population in Victoria, where the remaining 20 breeding pairs are found. It is Victoria’s only endemic bird, and was adopted as its bird emblem. Much work has been done to ensure the bird’s survival but it is at the brink of extinction.
