Founded in 1978, Kailis pioneered pearl farming in the pristine waters off the remote north coast of Western Australia. At a time when Australian South Sea pearls were becoming increasingly famous internationally for their superb beauty, Kailis opened the first pearl jewellery store in Broome, home of the iconic Australian South Sea pearl.
Kailis pearl jewellery is celebrated for its original designs, which showcase the precious, untreated and natural beauty of these Australian oceanic gems. A quintessentially Australian brand, Kailis’ style is intrinsically warm, welcoming and relaxed. Its focus is on creating jewellery that its customers will want to wear every day, but which will be celebrated for their value as heirlooms for future generations.
At the heart of Kailis jewellery is the untreated Australian South Sea pearl, world-renowned for its natural beauty, value and scarcity. Kailis creates its jewellery so you can mark life’s treasured moments in unforgettable luxury and style.
Caring for your pearls
Kailis pearls are most radiant when they’re worn. If cared for correctly, they will remain as beautiful as the day they were purchased, to be treasured by generations.
To clean, simply wipe them with a soft, damp cloth to remove excess oils and dirt. There is no need for detergents, alcohol or other cleaning solutions. Your pearls will respond naturally to a gentle, chemical-free clean. Do not let your pearls come into contact with hairspray, cosmetics, suncreams and perfumes, as these contain chemicals that can damage the nacre. Although pearls can be worn every day, it is advisable not to swim, shower, sleep or play sport while wearing them.
Kailis pearls and jewellery are best stored in a soft cloth or their original case, where they will remain away from other gems or jewellery that may rub against them. Diamonds and other hard items may rub the pearl’s surface and mark the pearl or metal surfaces. If you are travelling, we recommend wrapping your jewellery in soft tissue or cloth to avoid any movement or rubbing. To keep your Kailis pearl jewellery in excellent condition, we offer our customers a complimentary annual cleaning service or strand restringing. To arrange, email email@example.com
Caring for your diamonds
To help maintain your jewellery’s shine, we recommend cleaning it periodically with a mixture of gentle detergent and warm water. You can use a small, soft brush to remove excess dirt. Kailis provides a microfibre polishing cloth with each gold or platinum purchase which can be used to polish the metal and diamonds. Avoid soap, cosmetics, cooking grease, natural skin oils, chlorine or bleach while wearing your diamonds, as these can and will dull your gems. Also avoid wearing your diamond when doing heavy work / labour as even a diamond can be chipped by a hard blow along its grain.
Caring for your white gold
All white gold jewellery is plated with white rhodium for shine and a brilliant white finish. Rhodium plating will naturally wear over time, depending on the frequency of wear and other environmental factors, and should be replated from time to time to ensure the colour and shine are optimum.
Caring for your silver
Regular care should be taken to prevent tarnish build-up on sterling silver, a natural occurence when silver reacts with the air. Dirt and smudges can be removed easily from silver by dry-polishing the surface with a silver polishing soft cloth, which include anti-tarnish agents. Although soft detergents mixed with warm water are fine, don’t expose your silver to harsh soaps, chlorine, bleach or other household cleaning chemicals.
Wires, chains, omega and other rigid pieces
Non-flexible jewellery items are delicate and should be worn carefully as they may become misshapen through impact, pressure or pulling (this damage is usually irreparable). You should always remove these items when sleeping, playing sport, swimming or showering. When not wearing the piece it should be laid flat and stored in a suitable jewellery box separated from other piecesto avoid accidental damage or kinks.
