Australia Says “I Do”, by Luke John Matthew Arnold
“I made Australia Says “I Do!” with a hopeful sense of joy at the thought of marriage equality finally being passed in the coming days ahead. The work represents a feeling of love, acceptance and celebration. I also wanted to throw in a touch of Australiana to represent my personal experience as a gay man growing up and living in southern Sydney around the bush. I think it’s important to highlight the diversity within the LGBTQIA+ community by sharing our own stories and experiences through art.” Luke Arnold
This work is part of a collection commemorating marriage equality becoming a reality in Australia. Eight artists were commissioned by The Store by Fairfax to create new works that celebrate this landmark event. View the full collection here
